Lets Talk Skincare: Winter Necessities

Having a clear, radiant complexion can make a huge different when it comes to self esteem. With so many products on the market it is hard to know where to start when developing a skincare routine that works for you. Does anyone else feel completely overwhelmed when trying to navigate through the skincare isle?! I never know where to start, I often find myself turning to blogs and beauty gurus for guidance.

These winter months can be especially tough on your skin. Winter weather can have a tendency to leave skin feeling dry, dull and more prone to breakouts. Below are my favorite products I have been loving lately.

For reference my skin type is more on the oily/combination side, it never gets dry although some areas can get quite dehydrated in these cooler months. Since my skin is sensitive, it’s always been important for me to use good quality products.

Cleanser:

I have been through my fair share of cleaners, but I always find myself coming back to the Philosophy Purity. It melts the makeup off my face and leaves my skin cleansed without feeling striped, definitely my holy grail cleanser.

I always follow up with my Simple Micellar Water after cleansing to remove anything left behind.

Exfoliator:

Since most have drier skin in the winter, it’s a great time for a weekly exfoliation to remove those dead skin cells. Freemans Sugar Scrub is a excellent, affordable option. This product can be used as an exfoliator or can be left on as a detoxifying mask. The charcoal is perfect for removing excess oils as well!

Moisturizer:

When I was younger I used to avoid moisturizer, like many others with oily skin. I’ve come to realize how important it is to keep your skin hydrated. Hydration is key especially during this time of year.

Sunday Riley Tidal: I use this as my daily moisturizer. The gel “water” consistently is lightweight making it perfect to wear under make up.

First Aid Beauty Ultra Repair Moisturizer  is my go to night cream, perfect for any skin type.  It is gentle, full of great ingredients and does not irate my skin. I highly recommend this brand for anyone with sensitive skin.

Treatments:

Below are my favorite spot treatments.

Mario Badescu Drying Lotion

La Roche Posay Effaclar

Masks:

Tony Moly: I can’t get enough of these masks! I am a huge fan of sheet masks and this brand has quickly become my go to. My particular favorites are: Clear SkinPore CareSkin Purifying, & Another Skin Purifying.
