After standing in my overcrowded closet this morning thinking the typical ‘I have nothing to wear’ I was inspired to do a closet purge: 7 pairs of sky high heels from my college days, 10 white t-shirts, 4 pairs of worn out uggs were all completely unnecessary and taking up valuable closet real estate. I have a hard time letting go of my things, clothes especially, but having an excess amount of unnecessary items makes me late in the morning and ends up collecting dust.
Once you start your closet purge and decide what to keep and what to get rid of, you’ll start noticing patterns. I gave away more items with designs/patterns, this has helped me when shopping to just stick with basic tops. If you haven’t worn it in a year it’s time to give it away, if there’s rips or stains…trash it. I found that going through my closet and asking myself the below questions helped me part with a lot of things I really didn’t need. Happy spring cleaning!
Does this fit?
Have I worn this in the last 12 months?
Will I ever wear this again?
Can this be worn with multiple outfits?
Does this still represent my style?
If I was shopping right now would I buy this?
I did a major closet purge last year. Got rid of 3 trash bags full of clothes and around 20 pairs of shoes (yep… I can be a shoe hoader). Then the rod in my foyer closet broke and I purged that too and got rid of a bunch of coats I don’t wear or need. Donated everything to a thrift shop down the street from where I live. All their proceeds go to a local hospice network. I try to do this at least once a year.

It feels so good to finally do a good clean out! I have a hard time parting with my shoes as well lol. That’s amazing to give back, keep up the great work!!

I had no problem parting with those shoes. I hadn’t worn them in years and thought they were all ugly now. 😂
